I am an architecture major and we have been learning about the built environment this semester. I am particularly interested in sky scrapers. I want to explore why they are built, what role they play in the city, and their overall influence on life today. I think this subject would be fun to research as well as for others to read about when I finish my paper. Cities play a huge roll in life today, though not many people explore this role and understand how cities came to be what they are.

Re: Teal Delys Research Topic
Dear Teal,
This is a very interesting topic. Papers are supposed to be argumentative in nature, but I think there is a way to make your idea more persuasive. Lots of people say skyscrapers are eyesores and bad, right? You don't seem to think that. Your job would be to inform your reader about the importance of skyscrapers in order to allow them to understand why they are necessary. Does that make sense? Use your time in the AML tomorrow to see what kinds of evidence you can find--most will probably be architectural and historical studies. Maybe you can find something in art history too--Skyscrapers as art?
